Luis Miguel Gil, better known as GuitarHeroStyles, ItsAdvyStyles or simply Advy, is a Spanish player and former in-game moderator in Geometry Dash. He has completed numerous Demons, including both versions of Cataclysm, Bloodbath, A Bizarre Phantasm, Betrayal of Fate, Acropolis, Supersonic, UltraSonic, ICE Carbon Diablo X, Phobos, BuTiTi III, Artificial Ascent, Astral Divinity, Black Blizzard, Low Death, Yatagarasu, Sonic Wave and Bloodlust. His current hardest Demon is Congregation, which he beat on 4 June 2022. In addition, Advy has participated in plenty of collaborations, such as The Ultimate Phase. He owns a second YouTube channel called GuitarGames, to which he uploads gaming videos unrelated to Geometry Dash.

In October 2021, Advy was accused of sexual misconduct by several women, including minors; his subsequent denial of the allegations and continued presence within the Geometry Dash community became extremely controversial, with his moderator status, Demonlist records and Twitch channel revoked as of 2023.

History[]

Advy joined YouTube on 9 October 2011. uploaded many videos of himself playing Guitar Hero and has participated in DreamHack's Guitar Hero tournament from 2015-2023. On 17 March 2014, Advy uploaded his first Geometry Dash video, in which he beat the main level Theory of Everything.[1] He continued to upload videos of the other main levels, eventually shifting to user levels. Advy settled into making videos where he showcases levels playing in practice mode and completes them in normal mode. He periodically gives information about game updates and functionality.

In July 2015, Advy stated that his hardest level would be 8o, which took him eight months to complete, and a fail of 98% before beating it on 12 March 2016. He started conquering numerous Extreme Demons in 2016, such as both versions of Cataclysm, The Ultimate Phase, Bloodbath, A Bizarre Phantasm, The Hell Factory, Falling Up, Retention and most notably Duelo Maestro with SoulsTRK.

In 2017, he beat Red World Rebirth, HyperSonic and The JanuS Miracle during the release of the 2.1 Era and verified PanaSonic. On 19 October 2017, he beat his new hardest in Blade of Justice after +17,500 attempts and two fails at 91% and 94%. Advy calls this 'Mi mayor logro' (My greatest achievement) on one of his videos, and on 15 November 2017, almost a month later after his new hardest he became the second Geometry Dash YouTuber to reach 1,000,000 subscribers and received his golden play button from YouTube on 15 January 2018, while the first one was RobTop. He also beat The Lost Existence after a 98% fail and verified Pumped Up Kicks on 18 August 2018. On 15 September 2018, he previewed the sequel to PanaSonic, Electrolux, later on.

On 17 January 2019, he beat his new hardest again in Phobos after +7,300 attempts, two years of work and practice, and a fluke from 77%. Advy was so proud of beating this level that he said, 'I broke a curse' on their subs who said, 'Pasate Phobos' (Pass Phobos). Later, he beat Quest For Perfection, and he planned to beat God Eater (this was before Astral Divinity existed); however, on 26 April 2019, he got his worst fail at 91% on the level itself. It was one of the worst fails ever in Geometry Dash; worse yet, his heart rate increased up to 187 BPM, and he was forced to go to the emergency room.

Advy settled into making videos where he showcases levels in practice mode and completes them in normal mode. He periodically gives information about game updates and functionality. Meanwhile, Electrolux was finished on 26 May 2019, and Advy live-streamed it for a while. He continued to beat Extreme Demons in September 2019 and beyond in Allegiance, UltraSans, Master Duel with TheJesucristian and SrGuillester, and BuTiTi III as his new hardest. He beat his copy of God Eater because the original level was removed from copyright infringement. Later, he beat Deception Dive and plans to beat the former Top 1 Extreme Demon Artificial Ascent, which resulted in him beating it on +13,700 attempts, as well as fluking this level from 77%, although it is the same thing as Phobos.

On 23 January 2020, he beat Astral Divinity after 3,991 attempts as this is the newer version of God Eater, beating the official level itself and on 13 February 2020, he verified Electrolux after two worst fails on the level at 93% and 97%. On 5 March 2020, Advy became a Geometry Dash moderator and started sending levels to RobTop and uploading some level requests on YouTube. On 12 April 2020, the day when he beat Low Death, his heart rate exceeded 194 BPM; unlike reaching 185 BPM in God Eater, Advy did not go to the emergency room. It was most likely because before the 91% fail on God Eater, he was not strong enough to resist being troubled by breathing.

On 31 July 2020, he completed Yatagarasu after 15,318 attempts, and he jumped from Artificial Ascent as his previous hardest, meaning he jumped up 32 spots on the Demonlist. Following his new hardest Demon completed. His heart rate is also 194 BPM, like Low Death. After Yatagarasu, he steamrolled Extreme Demons in 2020, such as Leyak and Edens Blessing, resulting in Advy beating two of these levels and Yatagarasu within a week. Later he beat Idols, Heartbeat, Quantum Processing, Athanatos, Gunslinga Corridor, aftermath, Black Blizzard, Fusion Z by PlebKingdom and Betrayal of Fate. His completion of Heartbeat, however, was after four years of uploading a practice run of said level. He also fluked Thanatophobia from 64%. Advy also completed the classic 'apocalyptic trilogy' after four years, and his completion of Betrayal of Fate featured Advy jumping at the last triple spike without looking at the screen.

In 2021, he steamrolled Extreme Demons again, beating Sakupen Hell, Freedom08, Tech Manifestation, SubSonic, Ulon, Dark Odyssey, Delta Interface, Red World, 8o X and Sonic Wave as his new hardest after 13,630 attempts, three worst deaths at 92%, 93% and 95%, and 34 streams, as well as beating Digital Descent almost a month later. His completions of Freedom08 and SubSonic achieved his highest BPM recorded of 198 BPM and 201 BPM respectively. However, on 24 October 2021, his career came crashing down after information about sexual assault by Advy spread as said below:

Controversies[]

Sexual harassment allegations[]

On 24 October 2021, Pan and other Demonlist maintenance team members exposed Advy's inappropriate behaviour towards women to the community. They published a statement from one of Advy's previous partners in which she accused him of emotional and sexual abuse, detailing that he had forced her to engage in sexual activity against her will during their relationship. The original statement was uploaded the day prior and deleted a few days later.

In addition to Advy's ex-partner coming forward, affected members notified the maintenance team that he had been sending explicit messages to many women in the community through social media. One of these instances involved a girl aged 15 whilst Advy was 19. Pan's exhibit of claims on Advy's behaviour quickly caught the community's attention and kickstarted a campaign against him under the hashtag '#advyout', which peaked at #6 on Twitter's trending topics.

Advy acknowledged the allegations but would neither apologise nor appropriately address the issue, later denying the allegations outright. Following the accusations, his partnerships with companies such as elgato and Teespring were severed. His social media were met with a negative response, with his Twitch channel banned on 20 April 2022[2] and YouTube channel experiencing a slowdown (but not net loss) of subscribers. His in-game moderator status was removed on 24 October 2021, with his rated levels ElectroLux and AmazoN moved to Zafkiel7 and DanZmeN's accounts respectively and PanaSonic, Gotta Boss Fast and Road to Nowhere to TheShadowRealm's.[Notes 1] He was also permanently banned from the Pointercrate Demonlist on 26 October 2021.

Conflict with IcEDCave[]

On 8 November 2021, the description of Slaughterhouse temporarily changed to 'https://twitter.com/pauzegd/status/1456657836386127875?s=20', a Twitter thread featuring a multitude of allegations against Advy. Advy had created a video on Slaughterhouse earlier that day, showcasing the level's difficulty. Due to Advy's previous allegations, IcEDCave was upset by the video, with him commenting on the video and emailing Advy privately requesting him to take down the showcase and leave the Geometry Dash community; IcEDCave was then blocked by Advy on YouTube and email.

Copyright-striking against Zoink[]

On 16 November 2023, Advy copyright-struck a stream uploaded by Zoink due to the thumbnail of the stream having his face without his consent. Due to Advy's nonchalance to consent regarding his controversy, the act received immediate mockery from the community, including Zoink.

    • It was moved into RobTop's TheShadowRealm account due to Advy's controversy.
  • On his completion of A Bizarre Phantasm, Advy covered both of his eyes when he made to Yuri's part, as a joke to the statement "Just Remember".

They include GuitarHeroStyles (his main channel), GuitarGames (a channel for unrelated games to Geometry Dash and Guitar Hero), GuitarGameplays (a channel for non-commentary gameplays and Demon progressions) and GuitarShorts (a channel for uploading shorts taken from his livestreams).
    • His unrated level 'Ladder Challenge' has a glitch. The player must beat the level first without the coin, then the second time they play it (without going to the level screen), they would have to jump without touching the portals instead of beating it normally. The player would have to jump afterwards, and only they would stick to the blocks, providing they do not let go.
    • This glitch was patched in 2.2, making the coin impossible. The player must beat the level normally.
  • He is somewhat known to have an early pubescent-like voice. People say it can be irritating sometimes, and most of his fans say he sounds like a ten-year-old.
  • In early 2018, he made his own game on the Google Play Store called The Ascent, a non-linear platform game inspired by a game he played called Geometry Run Dash. The Ascent mirrors the gameplay in Geometry Run Dash, in which the player navigates their character to the finish platform.
    • Advy himself is a selectable main character at the start of both games,[6] but in The Ascent's trailer, other characters include some of GuitarHeroStyles' friends.[7]
  • His name comes from the game called Guitar Hero, one of his favourite games.
  • In late April 2019, he had to go to the emergency room after getting 91% on God Eater, as his heart exceeded 185 beats per minute, causing him to have heart problems. According to him, his reaction was very intense and hard.
  • He won Best Content Creator in the 2020 awards despite expressing multiple times he did not wish to be nominated.
    • He is one of two players to win an award in the Geometry Dash 2.1 Awards and 2020 Awards twice in a row, the other being Xender Game for Best Modern Creator.
  • He beat Yatagarasu, Leyak and Edens Blessing within a week.
  • He used to often play with SoulsTRK and make videos with Juniper, but due to Advy's controversy, SoulsTRK and Juniper no longer associate with him.

  • He beat his beaten Extremes by adding his heart rate monitor, mainly his beaten Extremes over the past years.
    • Though his rebeat video of A Bizarre Phantasm, he did the last wave again without looking, but this time, instead of his hand, he used a hoodie and did it first try. Additionally, his BPM peaked at 194.
  • His quote after his Delta Interface completion is 'Where nothing and no one, can hurt me'.
  • His biggest fluke is Thanatophobia at 64%.
