Normal It has been requested that this page be rewritten and expanded to include more information. Reason: When Zimnyte tried to open the level, The Apocalyptic Trilogy crashed in the editor and became blank due to Geometry Dash is now 64-bit.

The Apocalyptic Trilogy (shortened in-game to Apocalyptic Trilogy, also known as AfterCataBath) is an upcoming Extreme Demon mega-collaboration hosted by Zimnyte, created by the members of APTeam and set to be verified by Trick. The level is a super-buffed, redecorated version of the popular level AfterCataBath, a combination of Cataclysm, Bloodbath and aftermath. The original 1.9 designs were redecorated with intricate, modern 2.0/2.1 decoration. The entirety of the level is unnerfed, with some sections slightly buffed from their original counterparts. It is set to be the hardest level in the game, although it has competition against many other upcoming levels.

History[]

Zimnyte began The Apocalyptic Trilogy in 2016 as his first mega-collaboration project. It was a redecoration of AfterCataBath, a merging of the infamous Extreme Demons Cataclysm, Bloodbath, and aftermath created by Zimnyte himself. Zimnyte gathered many creators who he believed deserved much more for their talent and set the goal of creating an opportunity for said creators to gain recognition. These creators would eventually come together to form the APTeam, one of the most well-renowned creator teams today. Progress was being made steadily, and the first preview of the level was uploaded onto Zimnyte's YouTube channel on 19 November 2016. Sunix, a rising top player who had recently verified the infamous level Sonic Wave, agreed to verify the level. Development continued through the release of Update 2.1, and several videos showcasing the decoration progress were uploaded as well. The project was finally finished, and a full showcase of the level was uploaded on 16 February 2018, around 1.5 years after the project had begun. The level became very popular and garnered the attention of Riot, the creator of Bloodbath, who applauded the APTeam for the level's stunning decoration.

However, just before the level was given to Sunix, the level became broken and unplayable when Update 2.102 broke the usage of groups above 999. This update was catastrophic to the level, and Zimnyte initially chose to postpone the level until 2.2's release. Two years after this incident, however, the creator, Davphla, managed to optimise and fix the level and allow it to function under 999 groups. The level was put back into development. Sunix, who had, at the time, managed to verify the original AfterCataBath, chose to drop the level due to inactivity and demotivation. Although the level's verification was picked up by Mycrafted, who managed to achieve 33% and 66-100%, he also ended up dropping the level soon after. The level was passed to Crazen, who also dropped the level after achieving a 54-100%. Afterwards, Zimnyte announced on 17 December 2020 that the level would be revamped due to its decoration having become somewhat dated.

After nearly three years of development, the revamp of the level was finally finished, and a full showcase of the level was uploaded on 27 August 2023, seven years after the level initially began. The level has been praised for being the best upcoming hell-themed Extreme Demon and one of the best upcoming Hardest Demons alongside levels like Amethyst, Silent Acropolis and Ascension To Heaven. During this time, the verification was passed to and dropped by both Toka and Saviorz before the level was finally passed to the well-regarded top player Trick, who currently holds a 30% and a 68-100%. Upon the release of 2.2, the entire level was replaced with 'Fire in the hole'. The level is a likely candidate for the next Hardest Demon to be verified and the first Top 1 Demon to be released in 2.2.

Gameplay[]

Hard It has been requested that this section be rewritten. Reason: Expansion
For the gameplay of the entire of this trilogy, see Cataclysm, Bloodbath and aftermath.

The gameplay is almost entirely taken from Cataclysm, Bloodbath and aftermath. The first ship sequence of aftermath is almost completely cut to give room for Ggb0y's part in Bloodbath.

Some gameplay additions have been added as well. For instance, the auto segment after the final wave section in Cataclysm and the auto transition to Bloodbath were replaced with non-auto parts to further increase the level's overall difficulty. The final 10% of the level is auto to present the credits.

User coins have also been added.

User coins[]

The first user coin is located at the transition from Cataclysm to Bloodbath, where the player has to carefully fly their ship into a small gap at the beginning of the Bloodbath part. The player then gets teleported back onto the main path after grabbing the coin.

The second user coin is found on the Michigun route at the end of the Bloodbath part.
